First Announcement:

NASA has recently begun development on the Cold Atom Laboratory (CAL), a multi-user facility for the study of ultra-cold quantum gases in the microgravity environment of the space station. A NASA Research Announcement (NRA) is anticipated soon to solicit users for the facility. In advance of that NRA there will be a proposer's workshop to provide critical information on the mission architecture, objectives, and opportunities. It will give information both about the facility, and on how to develop a proposal to respond to the anticipated NRA. This solicitation will be specifically for research proposals in the area of quantum gases in microgravity. Both ground-based and flight investigation proposals will be welcomed. In addition this workshop will allow the community an opportunity to offer inputs to enhance CAL's capabilities. The workshop will be held at the Joint Quantum Institute in College Park, Maryland on Dec. 17 and 18th. More information will be forthcoming.
